UIL

JellyBean was asked to be part of UIL (University Interscholastic League)  She had to got to extra practices after school and was chosen for Creative Writing.  That is where you have to write a creative story in a certain amount of time while keeping grammatical and spelling errors to a minimum.  One week before the multi-district competition someone on the Story Telling team couldn't do it and they asked her if she would fill in.  With Story Telling one must listen to a story and repeat it back with as much detail and expression as possible.
My darling girl took 1st in Creative Writing and 2nd in Story Telling!!!!!  Just think what she would have gotten has she been able to practice the whole time!!!  We are so proud of her and all her hard work!
The whole team did well and swept both categories!  So awesome!

Here she is getting honored at the school board meeting.

These are the coaches.  They are both wonderful ladies and  really great to work with!

We have such a smart little girl  and we are so proud of all her accomplishments!  We can't wait to see what else she has in store for us!

Singing Tiger Cubs

The First graders get the awesome chance to sing at the beginning of a football game.  It is an exciting thing for the kids to get to do and they all practice really hard to sing well.

This boy didn't cooperate very well for pictures.  He was so concerned about watching the people watching him, he never would look at me!  This was the best we could get!

Here is most of the group.  They really did a great job of it.  It was so awesome to get to see him sing!  Handsome Dad was in Canada on business so he missed it, but I was able to record the whole thing for future generations to admire.
Love this boy!!

The End of School for 2012

So my babies had a great school year.  They truly grew and learned by leaps and bounds.  Chunk had the same teacher that JellyBean had last year, and they got along great.  Mrs. Cox truly is good at her job, loves her job, and loves the kids, and it shows!

JellyBean had a great year with Mrs. Darden- she learned so much and had such a great time!

After the ceremony where they got their certificates (which they went through it so quickly I couldn't get any pictures) I ask them both to stand together to get a picture of them for the end of school and this is what they gave me.
I promise just seconds before they were oozing with excitement about what they were going to do for the summer and all the fun things they wanted to do.

It was so great to see my babies grow throughout the year and discover things and get better at things.  They are such smart kids!!  Yay for a great school year and yay for summer!!!!

First Day of 1st Grade and Kindergarden

So when school started we were all a bit in shock.  The kiddos were soooooo excited that i don't think that they really slept.  They were so cute.  Watching Jellybean pick out her clothes and tell me how she wants her hair was adorable.  Kinda sad at the same time to see how fast she is growing up.

Here she is in all her 1st grade splendor!

(picking out that lunch box was very hard.  It was between that one and a purple one, but with Chunks help, this one won due to the fact that it shimmers AND has a cat AND has a bow AND is pink.  You can't go wrong with all of those things.)

The backpack was another tough one.  But again with her wise brothers advise (which I totally agreed with) this one was cuter and it was pink and had a cute hanging monkey.  Oh the tough choices of a 1st grader!!

Here is my Chunk all ready for Kindergarten.  He was so excited and happy to be able to go to the big kids school with his sister.  His shirt was a no contest winner as to what to wear.  He LOVES Sonic and is rather proficient at the game and want people to know that he knows how to play and he is good so he can wear the shirt.

A Mario lunch box because he likes to play Mario,

and OF COURSE we have Bumblebee.  "Cuz Transformers are so cool mom, and everyone likes to play Transformers!!"

Monkey was so cute watching his older brother and sister get ready for school.  He was a bit sad that he couldn't go with them, but was determined to get a picture with them, and she was so excited to get a picture with the boys that were awake.

Usually Joseph takes the kids, but I had to do it.  I had to get all the embarrassing pictures that he wouldn't take and that I cherish, and know that someday we will all look back at and love.

The school sign.

Chunk at his desk!  He was so nervous and he handled it like a champ!
Jellybeans teacher was a bit more...... not cool with the camera and was kinda giving me the evil eye when I went I went to pull out the camera so..... no picture for her! Sad day!  Oh well.

When they came home.  They were nothing but smiles and so excited about their classes and all they were going to get to do and learn.

End of School 2011

So at the end of the year, Jellybean's first grade class did a final show of what they had learned.  It was so cute to see the kids.  They work hard all year- and it really shows.  I did ask Ms. Jellybean which song was her favorite and her reply was, "I love them ALL!!!!"

(top row third child)

Then soon after, they had an awards ceremony for the end of the year.  It was so fun to see all the kids and all they had accomplished throughout the year.
(yellow shirt)

When we go to pick up the kids, they have line, and while the kids are waiting inside, there is a teacher that is outside with a walkie-talkie calling the kids out as their ride pulls up and then a teacher brings the kids out and hand delivers them to the car.  Makes it very nice for us because of the babies.  Well, this is the teacher that is always out there calling the kids out.  Seeing her happy face everyday has Monkey has really come to like her!  After the ceremony, Monkey saw her, and ran over to her and gave her a gigantic hug.  So we had to get a picture.  =)

This was Jellybean's teacher.  We love her at our house.  Since I was able to be the room mother, she and I worked together on a few things, and she really is such a great person and really instilled in Jellybean a love of learning.

One of her favorite 'centers' was the reading center.  These are books on tape and they listen and read along. She LOVES this center and talks about it all the time.
When I asked her what her favorite thing about Kindergarten  was, she really couldn't narrow it down.  She'd say centers, and then she would say just math, then recess, then, reading, then lunch, then definitely music.  So needless to say, she loved kindergarten and has asked to go back multiple times!!

Chunk, went to pre-school.  Although he ended up spending many days sick (before the tonsillectomy).  He loved going to school.  He loved his teachers and his friends.  He learned so much and was always so proud of what he brought home.
This is the Director and and the teacher.  Ms. Jan.  She also taught Jellybean.  We love her.  She has always been great to work with and she is SOOOO amazing.  Needless to say, Chunk was in great hands and he liked it.

He is Chunk pointing to his name.  Class of 2024?!?!  Isn't that crazy to think about?

He learned how to write his name.  How awesome is that?!  My darling 4 year old writing his name!

All in all, they loved school.  They learned a lot, and made some great friends.  We are so grateful for such great teachers that have really helped them learn to love to learn.
